Common Questions

How do I choose the right electrode for my job?

Start with your welding process (Stick, MIG, or TIG) and base material (mild steel, stainless, or aluminum). For general structural stick welding on clean steel, 7018 is the go-to. For dirty or rusty steel or outdoor work, 6011 handles it. Not sure? Browse The Weld Room for process-specific guides, or contact us directly — we're happy to help you match the right rod to your job.

Do you offer wholesale or bulk pricing?

Yes. Copper Bridge offers tiered pricing for higher volume orders. Whether you're a welding shop, distributor, or contractor buying in volume, we can work with you on pricing. Visit our Wholesale page to learn more or contact our sales team for a custom quote.

Where do you ship from, and how fast will I get my order?

All orders ship from our warehouse in Riverside, CA. Most orders leave our facility within 1–2 business days. We ship to the contiguous US only. Delivery time depends on your location and shipping method selected at checkout.

Are your products AWS certified?

Yes. All Copper Bridge electrodes are manufactured to AWS (American Welding Society) standards — including AWS D1.1 for structural steel welding and AWS D18.1 for stainless. Every batch is produced by Jinlong Welding Electrode Co., a globally certified manufacturer with over 30 years of production experience.

What's the difference between 6011 and 7018 electrodes?

6011 is an AC/DC all-position rod that runs well on dirty, rusty, or coated steel. It's the choice for field repairs, outdoor work, and older equipment. 7018 is a low-hydrogen rod that produces cleaner, stronger welds on prepared steel — ideal for structural work, code-compliant joints, and smooth finishes. When weld quality and appearance matter, run 7018. When conditions are rough, reach for 6011.

Do you accept purchase orders (PO)?

We accept purchase orders for qualified business accounts. Contact our sales team at our contact page to discuss terms and get set up. We work with shops, manufacturers, contractors, and distributors.

How should I store welding electrodes to keep them in good condition?

Store electrodes in a cool, dry place away from moisture. Keep them in their original sealed packaging until use. For 7018 and other low-hydrogen rods, moisture exposure can cause porosity and cracking — if they've been exposed to humidity, re-dry them in a rod oven (250–300°F for 1–2 hours) before use. Stainless and specialty rods follow similar guidelines.

Popcorn weld? Don’t touch the machine yet. Check this first: Polarity wrong leads = spatter + porosity Arc length long arc = too hot + messy bead Rod match: 6011 = dirty steel / wind / repairs 7018 = clean steel / smoother welds (keep it dry)

Gasless flux core gets a bad rep because most people run it wrong. If your weld looks like popcorn (spatter), swiss cheese (porosity), or you’re fighting stubbing/hissing… do these 3 checks: Polarity (most gasless = DCEN) Drag angle (10–15°) Stickout (aim ~3/4", don’t let it creep long)
